Pared back skincare or skinimalism has been at the forefront of bridal beauty this year, and is set to continue into 2022

Skinimalism is a minimal approach to skincare and make-up, letting your natural complexion and beauty shine through. Brides-to-be are opting for this approach to their beauty routines to celebrate their uniqueness.

Independent digital insurance broker PolicyBee has analysed search volume data for 125 beauty-related trends to see what is most popular in the UK. Healthy, glowing skin achieved by ‘skinimalism’ is set to rise in popularity as we head into 2022. See how you can achieve this natural, radiant look on your special day.

Dual action products

To achieve this minimalist skincare routine, look for multi-tasking products. Overwhelming your skin with an abundance of beauty products can be damaging, leading to sensitivity and clogging pores, not exactly what a bride wants on her wedding day.

Look for dual action products, like an all-in-one moisturiser, primer and foundation, or tinted moisturiser that combines a moisturiser, skin tint and sunscreen.

A sustainable solution

Having a minimalist beauty routine is not only beneficial to your skin, but is a great way to protect the environment. Skinimalism is seen as a sustainable skincare option, as you are using less products, meaning less packaging being thrown away.

This eco-friendly approach also applies to beauty and skincare companies. Brands are becoming more aware of their impact on the environment, and can reduce their carbon footprint by removing unnecessary packaging from their products. For example, make-up and skincare brand Glossier now has 100% recyclable packaging and has removed unnecessary packaging from its products.

A natural approach to makeup

Brides-to-be are after an understated look to their wedding make-up, forgoing heavy make-up for radiant skin. With winter approaching, make sure your skin stays hydrated for that glowing, dewy look. Look to highlighters for assistance, focusing the product on the high points of your face. Consider fluffy lashes and a flush of colour for a natural make-up look.

If you want to add a touch of drama, opt for a dark smoky eye, a rising trend as noticed by PolicyBee. Blur the edges of the eye shadow or pencil eyeliner, or focus on darker browns as opposed to blacks for a soft but bold look.
